Log Homes & Cabins

Living in a new home is a dream many people have. However, planning and building your own home can be extremely overwhelming. There's so many things to consider and do it can be hard to tell where to start.

When it comes to building your new home, there are many types of dwellings to choose from. And within the group of homes known as ‘custom-built’, there are log homes.

Originally, log homes were basic structures built by pioneers in the wilderness who had nothing but simple tools, a strong back and a large stand of tall trees.

The look and charm of those long-gone days can be captured again with the fastest-growing segment of home building today… log homes. With an appeal that only Americans can truly appreciate, log homes can’t be resisted by anyone who desires that rustic look that is unique to our heritage.

However, today’s log homes are a far cry from the primitive structures that once dotted the landscape. Although the look and feel of that old-world charm still exists, modern building techniques and materials have made the process of building a log home one that our ancestors would not recognize.

In order to build a log home today, you need to hire an army of experts in the field. And not just any builder and sub-contractor will do. You need to make sure your foot-soldiers are thoroughly trained and battle-hardened.

Many aspects of the building of a log home are quite similar to those of a traditional house. But, as they say, ‘the devil is in the details’. You dream of having a wonderful home when you’re done, but unless you hire the right people for the project, it may well end in disaster.

So, as you plan your new log home, make sure everyone who is working on your house understands what you are trying to accomplish. You don’t want a contractor ‘cutting their teeth’ in the log home-building field on your house. You want experienced people who know what it takes to make your dreams a reality. You need to know much of what is involved in log home construction to ensure that you get the quality, well designed home you've been dreaming of.

Code Electric has wired many log homes (see our Log Home Gallery) and has the experience needed to bring your dreams to reality. In fact, three of the homes we've wired have appeared in featured articles (two are cover stories!) in various log home magazines. *
